Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

The Sussex MS Treatment centre is run on a self-help basis for people with MS and other neurological disorders, by people with MS, their families and carers. Our members can take advantage of the range of therapies available at the centre, or they can just come in for a chat and light refreshments.

Story

Hello everyone, as you may know I'm running the big one -  the London Marathon on April 17th. Contrary to some stories it will not be barefoot or wearing a silly wig. I'm also hoping I won't be doing 'a Paula Radcliffe' but forgive me if I do - 26 miles is a long way.

I'm running for the MS Treatment Centre, and last week i went along with my mum to the centre in Southwick to see what it was all about. We took part in a voice workshop and i was able to have a look at some of the other treatments they provide. The voice workshop was great fun, going round in a circle singing one line of a song, watching your partner closely so you know when to start. But why you ask should i donate to a bunch of people singing! The thing about this approach is that it brings a massive smile to people faces. Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic illness and can hit people very unexpectedly has very wide ranging symptoms. This can range from people suffering crippling fatigue to very healthy people who find themselves in a wheelchair within a couple of years. However what these centres do is bring people together and for a brief time make them forget their condition and allow them to take part in activities that are both fun and therapeutic.

All your donations are extremely appreciated, believe me and as a result I'll enter you into the 'what time will Josh run in the London Marathon' competition' But more than that thank you ever so much for your support for this great charity, they are not NHS or government funded so rely on donations and fund raising events like this. I've always been a runner and running a decent time has always been important to me but I've been so inspired by the centre all that matters is raising as much money as i can. With your generous support i can!

Thank you again and bring it on!

Josh
