Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
Please help and support myself and TST 24/7 Health and Fitness within the Belfast Marathon. We are completing the relay in memory of my husband Jonny and all money raised will be going to Brake a charity close to my heart.

We often hear of how fragile life can be, we hear the sayings of ‘live each day like it’s our last’ and ‘live your life with no regrets’ in case the worst was to happen, those monumental life changing kind of moments. However, we never expect it to happen to us, it’ll never happen to me we say………until it does.

On the 24th January 2020 my whole world changed forever. My husband, best friend and soul mate was tragically killed in a car crash. Life as I knew it ended. The pain and utter devastation caused is immeasurable. The loss of hopes and dreams, a future and family we would build together, all gone in the blink of an eye with no opportunity to say goodbye. How does life continue? How do you rebuild keep moving forward when life has shattered right in front of you? How do you rebuild out of a wreckage? Unfortunately, these feelings are all too familiar and felt by so many families and loved ones in both Northern Ireland and the UK. In 2020, 1,516 people were killed on UK roads, with 1,460 deaths recorded in Britain and 56 recorded in Northern Ireland, (www.brake.org.uk).

Myself and coach Harry Stewart, owner of TST 24/7 Health and Fitness will be organising teams to complete the Belfast Marathon Relay in order to raise money for Brake. Brake was a lifeline to me and Jonny’s family in the early days after his death, like they are for so many others. I could not do this without the support from all my gym family at TST which I am forever grateful for.

The Charity

Brake is a national road safety charity working with communities and
organisations across the UK to stop the tragedy of road deaths and injuries, make streets and communities safer for everyone, and support people bereaved and seriously injured on roads. They have been working since 1995 to make a difference across the UK. Five people die every day on the road in the UK and countless more are seriously injured. That’s five families every day that have to suffer the same devastating loss that we as a family have had to suffer.

Visit www.brake.org.uk to find out more about our life-saving work.

Much Love
