Story
My wonderful Dad was cared for at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice before sadly passing away from cancer of the Oesophagus in 2017. He was so brave and full of character. He faced his cancer and planned his own funeral. (Instructing us to leave the Church whist listening to ABBA’s Dancing Queen!)
Everything happened so fast from receiving diagnosis in the October and Dad leaving us in the January. Receiving help from Sue Ryder was invaluable for my Mum, myself and my young twin boys. We were welcomed with open arms at the most devastating moment of our lives. The hospice doesn't just see a patient, they see and care about the whole family.
After losing my dad, I knew I had to channel my grief into something positive and would help others going through this. I have walked in the Starlight Hike for the last three years in Dad's memory and this year I will be participating in and donating to the Walk to Remember so that I can continue to support the important work Leckhampton Court does
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
