Story
After experiencing the impact of the lockdowns on my mental health and those close to me in 2020, I wanted to set myself a challenge in 2021 of doing a walk in the daylight everyday to boost my own wellbeing. Having realised the positive impact this had, I wanted to couple up this challenge with a fundraising effort for Young People's Mental Health (YPMH), a fantastic charity accelerating research to address the causes of depression in young people.
I have to walk at least one mile outside everyday in the daylight (regardless of the weather!). Too easy? Well the challenge is to clock up 100 miles a month, every month in 2021 - a total of 1200 miles equivalent of walking from Cambridge to John O'Groats and back again. That's approx 3.3 miles everyday and I'm doing this over above any running miles I do.
It might not seem like a huge challenge, but it has really helped me. I have stuck to the task and tracked the miles using an App on my phone. I'm hoping together we can raise some money for YPMH, who are undertaking such ground breaking and valuable work. If you can spare a few £, that would be fantastic. You can find out more about the YPMH below.
