If all goes according to plan and I don't get injured I will be running two marathons this year; Paris in April and Berlin in September. 

Although I have been running for many years, I've never run a marathon before and will be devoting a lot of time to training.

I will be supporting  a fantastic (and very small) UK charity called Road Peace.  They do not receive massive amounts of funding so whatever you give will be a great help.

Maybe you will consider Road Peace a little niche.  Here's some more info for you:

Every day, 5 people die on the roads in the UK and almost 4000 worldwide.

RoadPeace is the national charity for road crash victims. They provide practical and emotional support to victims through a helpline, befriender network, and information guides on the legal procedures that follow a crash. RoadPeace also campaigns for justice for victims and road danger reduction policies that champion the needs of vulnerable road users. RoadPeace won the Guardian Charity Award winners in 2008.

They have been a great support to my family in the past.  I think anyone who has been bereaved by a road crash will know that is not a 'normal' death - it is sudden, violent, unexpected, and premature.
