Julie's Skydive to support Lindsey Lodge

Skydive to support lodge · 19 September 2020
In June 2018 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of invasive lobular breast cancer. At the age of 39 and with 2 small children it's the news no one wants to hear. After several scans and appointments it was found to have spread to 3 areas of my breast and into my lymph nodes. I then started a whirlwind of appointments and treatments, starting with 8 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiotherapy and a series of 18 injections. My treatment finally finished in October 2019 and in February of this year, I was given the good news that the treatment had worked and my breast cancer had gone! Thankfully, I had very supportive husband, family and friends. When I was worried I was developing lymphoma I was referred to Lindsey Lodge. The team there were amazing, from the reception staff through to the nurses. So kind, polite and knowledgeable. I was seen several times in the clinic and thoroughly reassured. They also referred me to their complementary therapy team where I was able to have several sessions of reiki which aided my mental health. While spending time at Lindsey Lodge I was able to see the remarkable things that they do there, how they help people, from those like myself who have recovered from cancer, to those in the end stages and palliative care. As a charity, it's quite clear how they rely on the local community to help raise their funds. They are a valuable resource for the area, and I would like to give something back. I am so petrified of heights, however, I'm willing to throw myself out of a plane to try and raise money to help this amazing place!
