Unfortunately Mental Health has affected my family for many years.  My ex husband suffered and now my eldest daughter has issues which luckily is controlled by medication.  I have been unfortunate to see family/friends suffer and I believe that educating and knowing how to get the support that is available is extremely important.  Mental Health is not a thing that should be hidden or feel embarrassed about, a majority of us will experience it at some point in our lives.

By holding this family event we can stand up and raise awareness while having some fun at the same time.

Havering Mind supports not only people with mental health issues but their families.  As a mum who watched their child suffer I know what a lonely place it is, not knowing where to turn for help and feeling to blame.  But there was light at the end of the tunnel, she has her own place and is a proud mummy herself.  She still has her "low times" but she knows help is there.

Havering Mind has lots of supports groups too for children/adolescents through to adults and the over 50's.  We will be giving out leaflets at the event.
