Story

UPDATE FEB 2017

Sadly as my health has declined recently, I have started another just giving crowd funding page separate to the Yes to Life charity in a desperate last attempt to either raise the funds for the cancer treatment in Germany that I initially set my heart on but did not have the funds for or for a potential clinical trial in the UK that could save my life but is not available on the NHS. However, as I have to be realistic, if I pass away before this can be made possible, I want to give my beautiful soulmate Rajah and our two kids a gift that they so desperately will need - a chance of a life after cancer. After years of being sick and unable to work myself, the costs of being ill and Rajah being forced to give up his job to care for me, our little family has been left in financial ruin. We have no savings and no home of our own. Knowing Rajah will be a single dad struggling fills me with heartache and so making sure him and the kids have some security is the only gift I can give them. On this page, with the Yes to Life charity, we will continue to raise funds for the healthcare costs incurred so far, but once that has been reached, this page will close permanently.

The story from when the fund-raising began:

On 29th June I was told that the breast cancer that I have been fighting with all my might since 2012 had spread to my lymph nodes, lungs, liver and bones which meant that surgery was no option and all that was available was more chemotherapy which in truth, was only to buy me some time if I was lucky enough to respond to it. It was made clear to me that it led only to one outcome - definite death! With time and the odds not on my side and two beautiful boys aged 5 and 8 years old to live for, I was desperate to save my life. So what was there to lose from taking a chance by trying other paths that were showing more and more promise? Just my luck, a CT scan in Oct 2016 showed the chemotherapy was no longer working and the cancer had grown. The NHS could switch me to another high dose chemo but it was only likely to give me a couple of months. Knowing we didn't have enough funds for the immunotherapy treatment, we frantically researched for another German cancer clinic which offered a more natural immuno-biological treatment plan at an affordable price. Doing something was better than doing nothing. After a 6 week course, I returned home just before Christmas feeling I could beat this, but soon found out that low dose chemo was not accepted or administered in the UK, and finding immune boosting therapies was a huge challenge. I was travelling everywhere just for an infusion of vitamin C or ozone. The holidays meant clinics were closed, consultants were on annual leave and therefore, appointments were impossible to get. I could feel myself deteriorating again and after spending new years eve in A&E (watching the fireworks at 12 midnight from the ambulance window), I started to lose my belief in healing. As my physical state worsened my mental state went with it, and so even though I have wanted to keep you updated and continue the fundraising, I have just been too ill and depressed to do it. Just as I suspected, a recent CT scan has shown that my disease has progressed, particularly in the liver! The worst place! I have now been given months to live! I urge you please to not give up on me yet. And if it's not in God's plan that I make it, at least my children will know that their mummy went out fighting till the end!

I love you all for helping me so much so far, and if you can't help anymore, that's fine because you have done so much already, but please please do continue to share my plight and God bless you all! Julie x
