Putting on my running shoes after a few years of not running was hard - would my knees cope with pounding the streets? Running at 6am is not for everyone but at least the streets are empty and few people get to see me running at a snails pace and red faced. 

After telling Helen, my daughter, that I'd entered she very quickly offered to join me.  This is a mother and daughter challenge and if you know us you'll  know that we will not be beaten! 

Why are we doing it? After working for YAC for nearly 12 years I have met some very brave and inspirational people who have been faced with some very challenging times.  They have had no choice but to face these; we do have a choice and we choose to support York Against Cancer in celebration of its 30th birthday. York Against Cancer supports and cares for cancer patients in our local area.  It is a small charity and  every penny raised is by fundraising just like this; it is all spent in our community.  Every penny really does count!
