I am raising money with my work colleagues for Alzheimer's . This is a charity really close to my heart having lost my dear father to Alzheimer's disease on 12 December 2014.

When we first thought about raising money for the Alzheimer's Society our father had been living with dementia for a number of years and it had reached its most challenging stage where communication had become increasingly difficult. His courage and determination to fight the disease meant that even in the most challenging period where he appeared most confused and lost, he never lost his sense of humour. A wink, a wry smile, his desire and ability to crack jokes with just a few words reassured us that he was still our same old dad, he was just living with an extremely challenging condition.

His departure was so sudden. Though a release for him, it has left us completely bereft. He was an incredible father whose love and support steered us all on the right path throughout our lives and he will remain with us always in our memories and in our hearts.

Please help us to raise as much money as we can for this cause. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
