As a family, we all enjoy reading and we would like to enable others to have equal access to books, and share our love for the written word.

We believe that access to books is a child's universal right, not a luxury.

However, in the UK, 3 in 10 children are living in households that do not contain a single book; The average deaf child leaves school with a reading age of just 9; And a child in care is more likely to go to prison than university, with poor educational outcomes, their attainment lower than it should be.

The Children's Reading Fund aims to improve the life chances for disadvantaged children in the UK through use of books, e-books, CD's, games and performance to inspire children to engage more with reading and writing, and thus to change their own story.

The money we raise will support this Booktrust programme.
