Story

I was shocked to find out how tough it is right now for the pupils of the Child of Hope School in the slum of Namatala in Uganda.

With the country in total lockdown because of Covid-19, people have become increasingly desperate and crime is escalating. A woman was killed and robbed about 200 metres from the school. The children aren’t getting the daily meals they used to have at the school and their mothers are unable to leave their houses to work so they have no money to buy food with. As a result, the children are so hungry they have been eating rats - but they are even running out of those!

So I wanted to try to do my bit to help and decided to 'Jump for Hope'.

Why jump? Well, the main tribe in the school is the Karamajong, who are known for their jumping style of dancing (the higher the better!) It's actually pretty tiring. But I thought that if the pupils are going without food, the least I could do was 'jump like a Karamajong' in my break times to try and raise money to help them. So I'm going to jump for the whole length of every morning break for the whole of the 2nd half term of Summer.

I've already started, and you can see the picture from Day 1.

Please help me to keep on jumping by donating to the Child of Hope charity.
