Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. On 11th April 2013 I will be cycling from Paris to Brighton and then running the Brighton Marathon the day after arriving in Brighton on Sun 14th April. There will be no vehicle support on the bike ride from Paris so it will mean the bike will be heavily loaded with everything needed for the trip. I have also never attempted any sort of running challenge before and up until little more than a year ago would have been out of breath simply running for a bus so the thought of running 26.2 miles is feeling very scary to say the least.
All previous challenges I've done have been just for the fun of it so thought it was about time I did a sponsored challenge. Those of you who know me know I'm a massive fan of dogs my favourite being Labradors so the charity I've chosen is Labrador Retreiver Rescue Southern England.
My dog Amber's life was saved by LRRSE after she was taken in to a vets by her previous owner who simply didnt want her anymore and asked the vet to put her to sleep. She had had a very sorry first five years of her life spending most of it living on her own in a garden shed having little or no walks. She was beaten and attacked with garden tools and somewhere in that time had picked up a large scar on her back probably from a boiling liquid of some sort. Thankfully the vet did not put Amber to sleep but contacted LRRSE to see if they could find her a new home. She is now enjoying living a life of riley and running me ragged on a daily basis but had that option not been there for the vet the result for Amber could have been a whole lot different. There are sadly far to many dogs with similar stories to Amber's and without the help of charity's such as LRRSE who take them in and find them new homes they would have no hope of ever enjoying any of the simple pleasures of a normal dogs life.
This is my first sponsored challenge and probably the last for some time so don't worry i wont be back next year asking you all to put your hand in your pockets again. I know these are tough times but many of the brilliant charities and good causes out there are feeling the pinch too so if your able to help me raise a bit of much needed cash for a great cause both Amber and I would be very grateful indeed.
Love and best wishes.
Justin & Amber
