The 7 Peaks Challenge · 2 August 2016

Edinburgh Headway Group aims to empower and enrich the lives of adults who have survived an acquired brain injury. We do this by providing high quality person-centred rehabilitation services which support both adults with brain injuries and their carers.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In 2009 a good friend of ours, Andrew Taylor (aka Chunk)
suffered a brain haemorrhage stroke at the age of only 28. I have known Chunk since primary school and had many adventures of our own over the years which included the French Alps, therefore it is fitting that we do this challenge for his charity.

Andrew was fit, active, and ran a successful roofing business before the injury. His recovery since then has been a long road but an incredible achievement in the face of
significant challenges. Andrew’s determination, positivity and never give in
attitude has been inspirational to me. I saw Andrew in the Bristol hospital shortly after the incident and to see how far he has come since then is quite simply phenomenal.

He has of course been helped along the way by a fantastic family, good friends and a number of support organisations. One such organisation has been the charity Edinburgh Headway Group. Headway provides information, support and services to people with brain injury and their families. As a specialist organisation supporting the longer term needs of people with brain injury after discharge from hospital, thedemand for their services continues to grow. Of the costs to run their service20% is via grants from NHS Lothian and City of Edinburgh council, but 80% is reliant on generous fundraising, sponsorship and donations.

To help raise some money and ensure Headway can
continue the excellent work they do a team of 8 friends plan to climb the South
Shiel Ridge. The ridge is 27km long and consists 7 of Munros (mountains over
3000ft). We are aiming to climb all 7 in 7hrs and a date of the 24th
September 2016 has been set. Any support you can give to would be greatly
appreciated by the Team, Andrew and Headway. Thanks in advance!
