Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am doing this for the support Macmillan provided my mother from her diagnosis of bowel cancer to treatment at the Northampton General Hospital for which I am grateful.

It was a very difficult time. On the day I finally decided to tell close friends about it, I found out that Vay had been taken ill the same day and was later to also be diagnosed. My mother was lucky but suffered a great deal due to various errors throughout her treatment. Vay was not so lucky and passed away leaving behind 3 daughters and his unborn son. I am therefore also doing this event in his memory.

I will be running the 12k uVenture Ironrun on the 29th September 2017. It is a 12k obstacle course featuring natural obstacles. For more information go to: https://www.uventurerun.co.uk/

The ironrun will be my first adventure race and will test my fitness to its limits after 10 years of sitting at office desks followed by commute, studying and no exercise! I'm getting up most mornings to train at 6am to try to prepare but the long period of inactivity means I have chronic back pain and shortened muscles causing spasms in my hip flexors adding to the challenge! My friends are aiming to run the race as fast as possible whilst my aim is just to finish the course!

Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
