Story
Well that's it, I've completed my two marathons in fairly respectable times. Although a little bit disappointed with my Edinburgh time I have still managed the run 2 marathons in 6 weeks and 3 in 7 months.
Thanks for everyone who has supported me throughout my training, especially Dave Cass who has been amazing with his encouragement and support, not just to me but all the others who ran both races. Also to Debs who has been a rock. I think she will be pleased that she doesn't have to listen to all the running talk and the endless explanations of the routes we ran. Well at least not until my next marathons, the IW marathon in October and Brighton in April 15.
Thanks also to everyone who has made a donation via this page, your do actions are greatly appreciated and I am sure will make a difference to the activities Beaulieu House can provide.
I have been extremely lucky in obtaining a place in this year's London Marathon which is on 13th April 2014. I will also be running the Edinburgh Marathon just 6 weeks later on 25th May 2014.
Running two marathons in 6 weeks is going to be hard work, so I thought it would be good to take the opportunity to raise some money for a local charity. I have therefore chosen to raise some much needed cash for Beaulieu Respite in Newport on the Isle of Wight.
The aim of Beaulieu Respite is to provide not only a break for the children and youg people, in an environment that is safe and non-judgemental, but also to provide a much needed break for parents and carers. It also gives siblings the chance for quality time with their parents.
I have now completed the first part of my challenge, the London Marathon in a commendable time if 4 hours & 9 mins, although I was a little bit disappointed with it. It was very hot which just sapped all my energy.
The good news is I have no major injuries so all being well I will be off to Edinburgh in a few weeks for round two and hopefully I can sneak under 4 hours.
