Story

On 10 February 2011 a few intrepid souls are setting out on a 7 day trek to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro - Africa's highest mountain standing at 5,895 meters (over 19,000 feet).  Sylvia and I are aiming to raise lots of money (£10,000 between us) for The Children's Air Ambulance (TCAA) - a new and vitally needed specialist retrieval air ambulance, specifically for children, for transferring seriously ill or injured children from local, regional hospitals to specialist children's units.

TCAA desperately needs cash not only to be able to purchase a Sikorsky S76B helicopter in order to run the service but also to finance each life saving flight.

About the charity

The Children’s Air Ambulance is an inter-hospital transfer service flying critically ill babies and children from one hospital to another for specialist care. With our ability to fly approximately four times faster than a land ambulance, we can minimise travel times and the risk for patients.
