Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It is approaching a year since I was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. I give God all the glory for keeping me for such a time as this. I thank God for the incredible medical practitioners who looked after me during my time in hospital, and continue to do so as I make the journey to full recovery.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital was the only hospital who did not turn me away, I guess they didn’t have much of a choice when I collapsed in A&E and was resuscitated! I can think jovially about it now, but truthfully it was a frightening time and the reassurance of the nurses, doctors, porters, consultants, care staff and more, made such a difference to my recovery.

At a time when I was sceptical about the medical care I would receive after being misdiagnosed and left to disintegrate at home, Queen Elizabeth Hospital really coped well with the teacher in me haha. I was always asking questions about what they were doing and was armed with my journal which even the consultants knew I would open to make notes with my scarred hands!

I am raising money for this hospital and the Lewisham and Greenwich Trust as a way of giving thanks to them for being part of the reason why I am alive today and able to see my 27th Birthday by the Grace of God. Trust me, they need every pound and penny so please give what you can.

To encourage you to give more, I know you love my walks! I’ll be walking 10km a day for 3 days in a row (27th, 28th, 29th August). 10km is double what my body is used to, so I definitely need someone to sponsor my pedicure haha.
