90 Days No Booze for Architects Benevolent Society

Karen's 90 No Booze Challenge for ABS · 28 December 2020
I am currently taking part in a 90 day no alcohol challenge. I am on Day 11 and I have decided to try and raise some funds for Architects Benevolent Society during my challenge! My target is £355 because this is the price of an average pint in the UK, multiplied by 90! And in a case of some bad timing, my challenge finishes on December 28th so sober Christmas for me! That must be worth a few bob?!
A few months ago I had the honour of being made an Ambassador for ABS. ABS are dedicated to helping workers and students in the architecture and landscape architecture community in times of need. They provide financial and wellbeing support in times of illness, unemployment, redundancy, bereavement, mental health struggles and more. It's an honour to advocate and fundraise for them.
Now more than ever ABS are needed. COVID-19 continues to strain all of our daily lives, and ABS are determined to help as many people as they can but they need the resources to do this.
On a personal note, my reasons for taking on the no booze challenge are linked to my mental health. Those who know me well will know I have been on quite the rollercoaster since the age of 16, and this year, against all odds really, I have made some massive breakthroughs in stabilising and learning to care for myself again. I want to finish the year clear headed and safeguard my progress, ready to take 2021 on! Through the remaining 79 days I will share aspects of my mental health journey. If anything strikes a chord, please consider donating to ABS.
