Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My brother Mark and I will be setting off on the The West Highland Way (WHW); Milngavie to Fort William; On the 30th of July 2012.
We are doing this for two very important reasons; in memory of our brother Steven; and to raise awareness of Brain Tumour Research.
Not only will walking the 96 miles in 7 days, carrying our kit, be very physically demanding, it will also involve spending 6 out of 8 nights under canvas, 2 of them with no toilet or shower facilities; and 8 days without hair dryers, straightners and very little make up (I do have my limits)! So a big challenge for me all round!
Brain Tumour Research is woefully under-funded, receiving less than 0.1% (0.7%) of national cancer research spending in the UK. It is also fact that 20% of all cancers spread to the brain; and more people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than from any other cancer.

Steven, died on the 4th of January 2011; due to an ‘a-typical’ Meningioma brain tumour. This aggressive type of tumour took Steven's life in such a way, and at such a pace, that it has left the family feeling that more research is needed to understand and deal with such a tumour; and the affects it brings to the sufferer.
My best friend, Elaine, also died of a brain tumour in June 2009 aged just 34, so this is a cause very close to my heart.
So please help us raise some funds for Brain Tumour Research this summer. With an annual funding goal of 7 million, every contribution makes a difference. Help us to help this vital research.
