In memory of Rachel Dodds

Story

In loving memory of Rachel Dodds.

An adored daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and cherished friend.  Rachel died on the 21 May 2013 shortly before her 30th birthday from a rare form of cancer - Peritoneal Mesothelioma.

Rachel was an amazing person so full of life and love for all of those around her.  A beautiful young woman with an infectious laugh and inspirational smile.

All who knew Rachel knew her passion for life.  She was so courageous in her illness that we look to her courage to raise £10,000 in her memory, to fund research into peritoneal mesothelioma.  We hope that future sufferers will have a chance against this terrible disease that devastated our family, and took such a loved person from our life.

"Because of her smile she made life more beautiful"

Thank you to anyone who has donated or fundraised in memory of Rachel, we greatly appreciate your contributions and hope to have your continued support.

Love from Rachel's family xx

The June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund is run on a voluntary basis which means all the money raised goes into research. All the money that has been raised in memory of Rachel was ring-fenced for the peritoneal research fund which has now been match-funded by the JHMRF up to £25k. The money was offered as a "pump-priming" grant specifically for peritoneal research and named the "Rachel Dodds Award".

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our charity.

We would like to thank Dr Kate Hill for her involvement in generating the "Rachel Dodds Award". It is good to see something worthwhile come out of what has been a devastating loss for our family.

It is 10yrs ago today Rachel lost her life to peritoneal mesothelioma, 6 days before her 30th birthday. This year Rachel would have celebrated her 40th birthday, to mark the occasion we would like to donate 10yrs of birthday money she never got the opportunity to spend.

We miss her more than ever.
