10K Sponsored Walk · 3 September 2016 ·

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Ethan has a bilateral cleft lip and palate. When ethan was first born ethan had stopped breathing..since then ethan has had severe breathing problems and has had to be kept in the Royal Hospital for children (formerly Yorkhill hospital). Oxygen wasn't improving his breathing therefore they performed a tongue and lip adhesion in which they have had to put a button on his tongue and stitch the tongue to the lip (first t time they have performed this operation on someone with a bilateral cleft lip and palate ). Ethan is coming up 7wks old and we have only had him home 6 days in total.

If it wasn't for the fantastic work of all the nurses and doctors at the hospital were not sure what would've happened to Ethan .

With being in Glasgow nursing staff are able to work closely with the cleft team who are based here to ensure Ethan receives correct treatment for his cleft.

Ethan is still in hospital and is going to be for many more weeks as they are unsure if this operation is going to work to help him breath. I'm doing this sponsored walk for him and everyone that has taken care of him. If you could donate anything it would be greatly appreciated... Thanx for taking the time to read our story..Karen Hayhurst
