A shocking 20% of the children in our local community live in poverty!We regularly hear from our referrers about families where children do not have a bed of their own instead, they are sleeping on the floor, the sofa, or share a bed with another family member.In 2017 we decided we wanted to do more for the local community and we launched a Bed for Every Child campaign. Each bed frame, mattress, duvet, pillow, sheets and covers cost less than £300.To date we have provided a bed for 45 disadvantaged children across the borough. We can only continue to provide this essential service with your support.The knock-on effects of children having their own bed are manifold they include: a better nights sleep, which in turn leads to better concentration and performance at school, enhanced health and wellbeing, reduced risk of sexual abuse, and raised sense of self-esteem that comes with having ones own items.
