Story
My beautiful daughter phoebe was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia on the 13th November 2013 when she had just turned 5. My life as I knew it came crashing down around me, we were given the devastating news that my baby girl has cancer.
She started her intensive chemotherapy treatment on 20th November and will continue this treatment for two and a half years. She has started to lose her hair, which has been so distressing, probably for us as parents rather than phoebe, she just gets on with everything like the brave little princess she is. As her mummy I just couldn't let her do this alone, I don't care about how I look now or anything materialistic, I just want my gorgeous girl to be well, and free of this nasty disease. In phoebes words we will both be 'egg heads'!
We spent a week after diagnosis on the oncology ward at BCH, a truly amazing place, where children race up and down the wards on their drip stands or in play cars, children laugh and play and cry. The nurses and doctors and play specialists do all they can to help and support your child and even us as parents. We felt at home, at the most horrific point in our lives, they made it easier. They are raising money to build a brand new oncology unit, which would be so well deserved and the children and parents would benefit enormously from this. we could not fault the staff, the ward is just getting old and needs a good makeover, maybe a bigger play room and more comfy parents room. This money once raised will change the lives of poorly children. No child should have to battle cancer, life is so unfair, however these special children do fight it, everyday and have to spend long spells in hospital, let's make it even more comfortable for them, it is their second home, or for some more like their first home.
We now have shared care with north staffs and BCH. They touched our lives and made my phoebe feel so welcome on their ward. It is like a little family. Please donate a little if you can to such a worthy cause.
