Karen's Three Amigos 5km swim page

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
Six years ago my darling friends, Ali and Rich were told that their beautiful daughter Aggie Candy-Waters had a rare and degenerative disease for which there was no cure. H-abc Leukodystrophy is a progressive neurological disease that affects around 150 children worldwide. Heartbreakingly, Aggie - who used to run, play and sing - has lost her fine motor skills meaning she is now wheelchair bound and is fed and carried by her parents. She has never lost her spirit or her smile though!
There is, however, new hope. Doctors at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia have made a breakthrough. New gene therapy that slows down the disease in mice could help save Aggie and children like her. The H-abc Foundation need £1m for human trials to begin -which is why my friends (Julie Smith + Lou Young) and I are setting out to do a sponsored swim to help raise these vital funds on Saturday the 31st July.
We hope to swim 5km from Henley Bridge to Marlow - which will definitely be a challenge given that it's 5 times longer than my longest swim to date. Training is beginning in earnest from today
- please give generously - every penny counts!
