Karen's First Marathon Challenge for Trafford Cats Protection

Greater Manchester Marathon · 10 April 2016 ·
Am I mad? Well at least I can admit to being a Crazy Cat Woman! After "doing" the Manchester 10k run for the last three years I decided that a bigger challenge was in order to promote and raise funds for the local branch of Cats Protection in my area close to home ..... Trafford Branch. So, I've chosen to sign up to the Greater Manchester Marathon on Sunday 10th April 2016 - all 26 miles of it! It seems a pretty daunting task at the moment but when I think of all the special volunteers who do a sterling job, 24/7, in keeping the branch going and giving cats in the area a second chance of a new home, it keeps me feeling positive and I know that it will be worth every effort!
My own cats Rosie and Maisie, and Gypsy before them, were all given their second chance by Trafford Cats Protection. Like many of the cats that come into their care they hadn't had a particularly great start in life. Some need to be encouraged to trust humans again and to be helped with rehabilitation in many different ways. Take Sparky & Suki for example. These two siblings were bedraggled, in a very sorry state and partly feral when they were trapped and came into the branch's care last Spring. Suki had given birth to a single male kitten which later sadly died. But what a difference a lot of TLC, warmth, food and reassurance can make - Sparky and Suki are now unrecognisable with magnificent glossy coats and are growing in confidence every day whilst in foster care. This is what makes supporting the branch so worth while. Of course some cats are born into the branch's care when a pregnant mother is brought in - they have the best start possible! If you'd like to know more about Trafford Cats Protection then why not visit their website where you will be able to read about the work that they do and some of the cats in their care waiting to find loving homes. http://trafford.cats.org.uk/trafford
I'm really hoping that I can achieve the high target that I've set myself and raise £1000 for the Trafford Branch. I know how much this would mean to them. I'd love as many of you as possible to donate - it doesn't matter how much or how little you can afford to give - it will all be very, very much appreciated!
By the way, you can also donate by texting KTCP50 £5 to 70070
Thank you very much for your support to this cause which is very close to my heart. Every penny donated will be put to good use in helping the cats and kittens that come into Cats Protection Trafford Branch's care - whether it be neutering, vaccinating, microchipping, medicines and healing, shelter, warmth, feeding, TLC ..... the list is endless! The branch is run by a small group of volunteers, fundraisers and fosterers and relies solely on charitable donations - your support does make a big difference!
