Our names are Buffy and Karim and we are raising funds for The Orangutan Project, a not-for-profit Australian organisation whose mission is to save the Bornean and Sumatran orangutan species from extinction by conserving the rainforest and reintroducing displaced orangutans into the wild. 

Novices to fundraising and conscious that our passion is not everybody else’s, we are not expecting people to donate unless they can and wish to do so; that being said even $5 would go a long way towards feeding a baby orangutan in the orphanage. A cause close to our hearts, amongst so many other conservation projects; we felt it was about time we went to Borneo and contributed and learnt - first hand - how our close relations are being exploited. 

Although this may sound like a holiday, for those that know us - and especially Frenchie - we will be travelling by klotok through areas such as "crocodile lake" - apparently an overnight stay on the boat ..... can't wait?!? Planting trees to regenerate forests, hiking to remote research forests, wading through peat swamps, trekking through jungle areas and partaking in enrichment programs. Thank goodness I did that DofE in the Brecon Beacons back in the day to prepare me for this...hmmm!

We want you to know that this donation page is not contributing to our trip, this is completely self funded. However in addition a requirement for us to attend is that we need to raise $1,000 each to raise much needed funds to help the plight of survival of the orangutans. This is completely separate from the cost of travel, to The Orangutan Project. All the money raised on this site goes directly to TOP.
