London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

The Mulberry Bush is a non-maintained special school providing an integrated programme of therapeutic residential care and education for severely emotionally troubled and vulnerable primary school age children.

Story

I only started “running” last year during the first lockdown. I’ve since ran a trail marathon and furthest I’ve ran is 50k. I enjoy it and like pushing myself so wanted to do that whilst trying to contribute for a fantastic charity.

I plan on running the testway 50 mile ultra (in one go) on the 3rd of April, then the London marathon on the 3rd of October and finally at the end of the year / start of the next year a 100 mile ultra (course TBC, and again, in one hit...)

I plan to raise as much money for the Mulberry Bush (www.mulberrybush.org.uk) they are a fantastic charity working with the most vulnerable children who have had a traumatic start to life. A bit more about them below...

“Established in 1948 the Mulberry Bush School is a unique national resource, which, unlike any other provider offers a highly evolved therapeutic residential programme of integrated care, treatment, education and family support for the most traumatised and vulnerable 5-13 year olds from all over the UK. These children have experienced emotional, physical and sexual abuse and, as a result have already been excluded from several schools and have been disrupting the community in which they live for a long time.

With the great patience, reassurance and skilled care Mulberry Bush provides to these children, they are gradually encouraged to a stage where, possibly for the first time in their lives, they can learn to trust and respect themselves and others, establish ordinary human relationships and begin to learn to lead a normal childhood. The school has a phenomenal success rate - 93% of pupils are re-integrated into a suitable family and 100% go on to an appropriate school.”

I know money is tight for lots of people but if you can spare anything it would be much appreciated or perhaps if you can’t spare money you could donate something I could raffle off. This would go a long way to allow them to carry on their fantastic work.

I’ll keep this page updated with updates on my training and of course the races themselves.

Due to COVID-19 if any of these races get cancelled I will look to run them on their rescheduled date, failing that I’ll just run the same distances from house.
