Story

At 7am on the 26th August, India, Lara, Tim, Leo, Orlando and Zak successfully reached the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, in memory of Mark Kary-our much loved father, brother and uncle.

Mark died in April, aged 57 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He inspired us all with his fight against the disease, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with his daughters right before diagnosis, and continuing to ski up until three weeks before his death.

As a family, we were lucky enough to share amazing memories in the mountains-hiking, climbing and skiing and the Alps have been very much part of his and our lives. One of the achievements he was most proud of was summiting Mont Blanc back in 2011.

By doing the climb, we hope to prevent other healthy, fit men from going through what Mark endured. We are hoping to raise as much money for Guys Prostate which is part of Guy and St Thomas's Charity, who are going to put the donations towards Dr Simon Chowdury's research into Prostate Cancer and treatments.

We hope that you will give generously, in memory of Mark, to such a worthwhile cause.

India, Lara, Tim, Leo, Orlando and Zak

UPDATE: We have just finished 4 days of training. We spent  2 days on the Gran Paradiso ( the tallest mountain in Italy at 4061m), which we all summited, 1 day training around the Aiguille du Midi and 1 day rock climbing in Servoz. We start our ascent of Mont Blanc tomorrow.
