Kas is fundraising for Raleigh ICS

Raleigh ICS · 31 December 2020 ·
Hey guys,
I'm Kas and I am aiming to raise £800 for Raleigh International before I volunteer on one of their projects for ten weeks this summer.
Through the International Citizen Service scheme, funded through the Department for International Development, Raleigh has been sending groups of young people abroad to help make a difference on development projects around the world. Aside from helping those in need, this will create young people with a greater appeciation of the world around them whilst forming global connections with those less fortunate than ourselves.
I have been given the privilage of working on their project in Tanzania this summer for ten weeks. This will involve living within the local community working on projects such as building better sanitation facilities, raising awareness of issues surrounding hygiene and educating local people on how to maintain the facilities we build, promoting sustainability. During my time there I also hope to get involved with the local schools to help develop the educational opportunities young children recieve.
This is a fantastic cause to get behind and the money raised will go directly towards projects like the one I will be working on. I will be organising various fundraising events such as raising awareness within school and others to raise the money, but in the meantime please get donating!
Thank you in advance for any donations you give and please do share the link to my page and encourage others to donate!
Best wishes,
Kas :).
Tanzania is in East Africa and is one of the poorest economies in the world. About 75% of Tanzanians live in rural households where there is very little opportunity for economic growth and access to safe water and sanitation is rare. In Tanzania Raleigh work closely with communities to provide knowledge about sanitation and safe water as well as ways they can improve their own wellbeing. This sometimes includes projects to manage human and animal conflict to help stop poaching, building toilets for schools, and providing community facilities such as early childhood development centres to increase health and community engagement.
900 million people go to bed hungry every night.
For those of you who know me...you also know how much of a foodie I am and how I like to spend money! For one week in April, I will be living under the poverty line. £1 to spend on food per day! It's going to be a real challenge for me so I hope I can count on your support :).
