VSO - ICS (Youth Volunteering) · 31 December 2015 ·

VSO is an international development organisation that brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday, VSO volunteers are working to empower people living in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.

Story

ICSE is a UK government-funded development programme that brings together 18 to 25-year-olds from all backgrounds to fight poverty in overseas and UK communities.

VSO only works with communities that have specifically requested help, where the energy and skills of young volunteers can make a direct impact.

Unemployment is a key challenge facing people around the world, and tackling that challenge can boost economic growth in some of the places that need it most. . Each project aims to improve the quality of living in a lasting way, and is designed to boost development by working with local people to meet local needs.

Who can take part?

Anyone from the UK aged of 18-25 can participate in this programme. (Having a criminal record may not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with ICS; it all depends on the circumstances and background of the offence.) If you would like to increase your skill set, immerse yourself in another culture and take up a new challenge then this could be for you.

What if you are over 25, can you still take part?

If you’re too old to volunteer on ICS, or if you’re over 23 but have significant experience supporting a diverse range of young people and a flair for leadership you can apply to be an ICS Team Leader.

If you have any questions, or ideas do get in touch.
