Hi!!  Thanks so much for visiting my page.  What on earth am I doing?!!! 26.2 miles! I'm training in the freezing cold, racking up the miles to get as much cash as I can for Beanstalk. 

Beanstalk is a charity that is very close to my heart. Since 1973 it has been working to tackle the problem of illiteracy in England.  The charity recruits volunteers from the local community, provides full training, and then places them in local schools.  Volunteer reading helpers work with the children who need them the most.    A volunteer will  work with each child on a one-to-one basis, twice a week for a whole school year.  The sessions really help the children  to develop their confidence and self-esteem in reading and communication. 

I have been volunteering for Beanstalk  in a local school for two terms.  Schools are brilliant, vibrant,  fun places to be, and the children are amazing.  Helping young people to gain confidence in their reading is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.   I love being a reading helper, and would like to raise as much as I possibly can to ensure that Beanstalk can carry on all of the excellent work that they are doing.
