Kate Derrick - Ward 38 - 10k obstacle mud run

The battle of landsdown 10k obstacle mud run · 31 October 2015
As lots of you know, I work on the neuroscience ward at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (ward 38).
Ward 38 takes care of children that need specialist neurological treatment for various conditions including life - threatening head injuries, newly diagnosed brain/spinal tumors and neurological diseases.
The ward has been allocated a "Quiet Room" which is where children and families sometimes receive bad news or have difficult conversations away from the busy ward environment. It is currently a plain white room with very little furniture and looks cold and clinical. We would love to change this room into a space that looks comforting and peaceful.
Therefore, I have rediculously signed up to to the Battle of Lansdown, which is a 10k mud run with obstacles. Anyone who knows me knows that I NEVER exercise at all and am probably the most unhealthy person going, so this is going to be a proper challenge!
Dave will be there to take photos for everybody's facebook amusement afterwards!
A team of amazing colleagues are working together to help to raise money for this project which should make a huge difference at such a difficult time!
