Time to get this Page up and running again....
A month or so ago, after a couple of glasses of champers with my lovely mum and a few renditions of some dad's and daughters songs (we didn't start the fire!!) mum passed the half marathon baton onto me for the year by enticing me with a final offer of a £10 discounted entry- seemed a bargain after a couple of bottles and a few sambuca shots!!!
So here I am about to run my second half marathon in memory of my first love.... My Dad!
This time, I'm aiming for sub-2hours and I'm pretty determined! (Wonder where I get that from!!)
There is another tale to add to this story which will make me more determined next weekend. My lovely Nan- dad's mum, has recently been taken ill after a clean bill of health for over 80 years. It is highly likely that she has Pancreatic cancer (still awaiting the diagnosis) and unfortunately she and we will have to endure all that cancer throws at us again. I am sure many of you relate to this and know the pain and sadness it brings.
Marie Curie nurses supported dad for many years. They got him well enough to come to my wedding and walk me down the aisle as well as living life to the full for as long as he could and those of you that knew him certainly know he did this!. They have him dignity whist he was very poorly and supported mum and I through the challenges of a terminal illness. They will always mean a lot to us.
This second one is for Dad and Nan - I'm faster and stronger and will see you at the finish line with Rocky blasting in my ears!!
So please dig deep and donate now. Nan was the first person to put her hand in her pocket when I said I would be running and I hadn't even asked for sponsorship! She made me question why not!
Sadly, someone always needs the help of a Marie Curie nurse- They need our continued support.
Thank you xx
If you are in town next Saturday, please cheer me on or send positive thoughts. It'll be a tough one, tweaked my hamstring this week and sciatica had returned :-( but I will do it!!!
