In common with most of the rest of my Engadin Angels group, I hadn't put on a pair of cross country skis until Christmas, much preferring the thrill and exhilaration of downhill skiing! I have only practised on snow for a matter of a week, the rest of the gruelling training regime focussing on roller skis on concrete, which is a completely different deal when you fall over, as I have, many times. We have cycled, sprinted, crunched, stretched and heaved our way round Richmond Park and Dorney Lake in the name of achieving fitness.
I want to support women who have overcome far greater obstacles than these to achieve their own success stories. Coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, these women are very often not educated and have low self-esteem. The work that the Prince's Trust do for Women Supporting Women has already made a difference in the short while they have been active. Over the next five years, WSW wants to raise £10million, which will change the lives of 6,500 young women. The money I raise on 10th March will be a drop in the ocean towards that target, but I'm aiming for £3,000. Please help me get there.
