Mount Elbrus, 5,642m - (7 Summits) · 22 June 2014

We reach out to women street sex-working in Bristol. We support them to move from crisis and trauma towards independence in the community. Wherever they are in their journeys, we give love and practical support. Our vision is of a world where all women are safe, feel loved and thrive.

Story

Thanks for being super stars and taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I sincerely appreciate all your support.

Some you may know that I trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nov 2010, a trip that truly changed my life and what was expected to be the first of many other charity challenges. Unfortunately due to ill health and shit bad luck I had no choice but to hang up my boots for a while.

Anyone that has ever done anything similar will vouch when I say that once you have experienced the splendor of the mountains and the challenge of high altitude, there is no turning that switch off again, and after a few years of dreaming and wondering if I would ever get another chance i'm excited that the time is finally right again for me to take on my next challenge.

This time i'm going BIG! - The 7 Summits (the 7 highest mountains on each of the 7 continents) have always held a fascination for me, and whilst I know I don't have the bank balance to take them all on, I definitely want to try and tick as many off the list as I can.

Mount Elbrus in Russia is Europes largest mountain and stands a whopping 18,510ft above sea level (Snowdon in Wales is 3,560ft) I'm lucky enough to be making this journey with an incredible moutaineering expert and the leader of my EBC trip in Nepal, founder of 360 Expeditions. 360 like to keep each challenge as original as possible and so we won't be taking the standard route to the top. Instead we will be making the trickier but unspoilt traverse of the mountain from North to South, which suits me just fine, because I never like taking the easy route!!

As well as contending with high altitude and freezing conditions of upto minus 30C, I will also have to carry all my own kit! this is the only thing i'm worried about, and when I say worried I mean PETRIFIED! I am currently the biggest weedling in the world and so my training is going to be heavily centred around strenthening my back and core so I can handle my pack and keep putting one foot in front of the other up that big old hill!

MARCH FUNDRAISING...

As well as shamelessly begging for your donations on every social media platform going I am also planning on organising lots of fun events over the next few months. March sees me taking part in an Instagram challenged called #onestepfurtherchallenge. As part of this I will ONLY be eating with CHOPSTICKS for the entire month of March...it's day 3 and already I can tell you it's proving tricky :)

I will also be launching my NEW SPRING14 collection of jewellery on my new website (coming soon) www.bravestofall.com and 20% of the sales of all Infinity and Knotted bracelets will go directly to charity, so show double support and invest in some handmade bling too please!

Keep checking back for updates of other events and mini challenges and if you have any off the wall ideas, i'd love to hear them :)

I am also looking for several Corporate Sponsors so if you are yourself a business or you know of a business that is looking to get behind a charity event please drop me an email katejohnsonh4h@hotmail.co.uk

My chosen charity.....One25

I was introduced to the wonderful work of local Bristol based charity One25 by a friend and within 30 seconds of having a look at their website I knew this was where I wanted to direct the money raised.

One25 reaches out to women trapped in or vulnerable to street sex work, supporting them to build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction.

Their night outreach van, which offers hot food and drink 5 nights a week offers a safe haven for women to seek advice and help. In 2012-2013 their team were able to help 39 women to stop street sex working.

Over 1,800 women also dropped into their Bristol 'drop-in' centre last year alone, where they were able to seek more in-depth advice and support from their highly skilled team.

please go and check out the incredible work that One25 is doing www.one25.org.uk

Thank you so much for your love and support and for donating, every single penny means the world to me and the charity
