Kath's Brave the Shave for Alzheimer's

Brave the Shave for Alzheimer's · 17 August 2017
My parents have not had the easiest life, and at a retirement age they should be able to live an enjoyable and relaxing life. Instead, Alzheimer's disease reared it's ugly head and descended upon our lives. My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 3 years ago - thankfully we caught it early, which enabled her to have the best treatment available in order to slow down the progression. However, the symptoms of the disease still showed themselves very quickly, to the point where she is now even forgetting her own children's names. My dad is her sole carer, and does so much to help not only her, but me also, as I am not in the best health myself and therefore limited in what I can do to raise money. I want to 'Brave the Shave' whilst she can still remember, to let my parents know just how much I love them, and to help others who are suffering too, as it is not only those who have the disease who are suffering, but also their families.
The 'Bolton Dementia Support' group is run completely by volunteers who come together to provide days of support and entertainment for both sufferers and carers. Fortunately, my mum has plenty of people who can offer their support to her, but not everyone is as lucky and face this disease on their own. After visiting this group, I can see how hard they work to make a positive difference to these people's lives, which is why I am choosing to support them.
August 17th is mum's 70th birthday - and the day I have chosen to lose all my hair - it would be great if you could help me achieve my target of £1000 by this date. I will still shave off my hair even if I don't reach my goal.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and Best wishes.
