The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to read on...

For the last eight years I have had the privilege of working alongside incredible colleagues in many different hospitals caring for children of all ages- from newborn premature babies to sixteen year olds taller than I am.  When a child becomes ill, families have no time to plan and are often faced with the prospect of being moved to hospitals far from their homes. Children and their families have such reserve and resilience in times of extremis and The Sick Children’s Trust make it possible for them to face these challenges as a team... enabling parents and siblings to stay close to their bedside.

This year more than ever before, the pressures on the system are resulting in sick children being transferred great distances across the country to the closest available beds.

I am not a natural runner, but will be doing my utmost to make it the full 13miles, (training slightly hampered by recent pneumonia, but getting back on track!) and would be so very  grateful of any donations however small- every little helps
