Story
Hi everyone,
I'm riding 360 miles over 4 days from St Malo to Lille with 65 colleagues from Visa, raising money for UNICEF.
Two years ago I had a nasty bike accident while out on a training ride (I had qualified for the GB team going to the duathlon world championships so was putting in lots of miles on the bike). It was a horrible crash; I suffered a serious brain injury and subsequently spent a couple of weeks in hospital. It wasn't clear how well I'd recover. I started riding again (and working again after finishing my MBA) at the start of 2013 (errr... it didn't go completely smoothly. I had half of my front tooth knocked out cycling into work!).
All things considered, I love cycling and am happy to be back on my bike. I'm looking forward to this ride - I'll be wearing my helmet and not cycling behind anyone who can't handle a bike properly! I'm also hoping to raise a decent amount of money for UNICEF. It's Visa's chosen charity, not mine, but they do do some good work so get sponsoring!
Our planned route is:
Day 1: St Malo --> Alencon 111 miles (178km)
Day 2: Alencon --> Rouen 98 miles (157km)
Day 3: Rouen --> Amiens 74 miles (118km)
Day 4: Amiens --> Lille 77 miles (123km)
I'll be taking lots of photos and uploading my rides to Strava if you are interested in following my progress.
Best,
K x
