We provide information, help and support to sufferers of Pernicious Anaemia (PA) including their families and friends. Our Mission: To secure a full and comprehensive review of the way in which Pernicious Anaemia is diagnosed and treated that will lead to more timely diagnoses and better treatment

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency 4 months ago, after experiencing vertigo, memory problems, loss of sensation in my feet and extreme tiredness. I knew nothing about it, and found that the Pernicious Anaemia Society was one of the best sources of information about a disease which is little known, and little understood.  There has been very limited progress with research into diagnosis and treatment since the 1930s, when it was found that feeding raw liver to patients would stop them dying, and then B12 was discovered. I am very thankful for the second discovery, injections of B12 for the rest of my life are much more appealing than daily quantities of raw liver!

I will soon be 50, and feel that I have everything that I want with my family,  my friends and my slowly improving health. So, instead of giving me birthday presents, I would be delighted if you could make a donation to the PAS. This will help them to continue to provide a lifeline to those people who suffer from B12 deficiency, particularly those who have been diagnosed so late that they suffer irreversible damage.

Thank you!  All my love, Katherine
