Story
In August 2019, Hamish, Giorgio and I will be climbing Mt. Kenya. Although slightly smaller than its Tanzanian sister Kilimanjaro, Mt. Kenya (still 5200m) is supposed to be a more challenging climb and for those that know Giorgio well - this is a big undertaking.
The money I will raise will go towards the Mr. Ben scholarship at Tujatane. Tujatane is a trust school in Zambia established and run on a totally voluntary basis by my very brilliant aunt, Vanessa Parker. It offers free primary level education for children in the local communities and continues to support them into their secondary education. Children who would not otherwise have had the resources to access this education have gone on to become lawyers, doctors, pilots etc. I have been lucky enough to work in the school and have seen what an amazing pathway it creates for its pupils. The Mr. Ben scholarship is particularly close to mine and my family's hearts as it has been created in memory of my uncle, Benjamin Parker, who lost a very brave battle with cancer earlier this year. Throughout his lifetime, he invested a huge amount of support into Tujatane, providing the foundations for it to become the incredible network it is today. All donations raised will go towards the scholarship so that each year one ex-Tujatane pupil who has completed secondary school will be funded through college, university, or an apprenticeship.
Ben and Vanessa's family, his daughters (and my wonderful cousins), Natasha, Acacia, and Tamara have shared with us their spirit of African adventure and to say thank you, I would like to contribute to this scholarship and the legacy it leaves. Any donations no matter what size will go such a long way.
Thank you. Kat
