Kathryn's page- Lakeland 50

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just less than 5 years ago i was diagnosed with hypertension probably due to the fact that i was born with only one kidney, soon after i decided to take up running with a local running club DH Runners, to keep fit and to help to keep my hypertension under control.
I started off running parkrun's, 10k races then soon progressed to competing in Half Marathons (16 to date) and then a couple of Marathons. Last year i was lucky enough to take part in a relay team running in the Cumbria Way Ultra, supporting one of our club members and a very special friend to complete in her first ever 73 mile race. The day after this race my beautiful Dad was admitted to Eden Valley Hospice, where he spent the last 3 weeks of his life. Dad had been poorly with Heart Failure for the last 6 years and had become progressively worse and housebound during the last 2 years.
Eden Valley Hospice was the most incredible place, taking care of Dad and Mum and all of our family they showed us love and compassion when we needed it the most. As soon as we walked through the doors it felt like we all had been surrounded with a huge hug of peace and tranquillity.
On the 27th of July i am taking part in my biggest running challenge to date, the Lakeland 50. This is a 50 mile race in the lake district starting at Dalemain finishing at Coniston. I am doing this in memory of my beautiful Dad to raise money for Eden Valley Hospice and repay some of the extraordinary kindness given to us during the last year.
