We help abandoned & unwanted Romanian dogs to find them safe and loving homes

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be taking part in the Bath Half Marathon on 17 March 2019 and will be raising funds for '1 Dog at a Time Rescue UK' who are a team of volunteers working to help the street and stray dogs in Romania.

Dogs in Romania have a hard and terrifying existence. They are frequently abandoned in remote places and left to starve to death. People are known to abandon their pet dogs just as they would abandon a bag of rubbish. The dogs left on the streets, if not maimed or killed on the roads, are prime targets for the dog catchers who hunt them down and capture them in brutal ways.

The dogs are then thrown into the Public Shelter where they are left without any care or medical attention in squalid conditions with little or no food at all. Only few dogs survive to adulthood. Many of the stray dogs are not neutered so it is a constant round of young bitches in season with the inevitable consequence.

The wonderful people at 1DAAT rescue as many of these poor souls as they can and find them loving forever homes here in the UK. They have their own half-way house called Happy Tails in Romania where their dogs can acclimatise to life, and volunteers help them adjust and prepare for their journey home. They take time for the dogs to recover from the stress of living on the streets or in the public shelter, and spend some much needed time in a safe environment getting regular meals and warmth, and that special thing called TLC. When the dogs are ready, the volunteers work with fosterers / adopters around the world, to ensure they travel and arrive safely.

The Bath Half Marathon will be my first Half Marathon, so please help me get around the 13.1 mile course, by giving generously to this amazing worthwhile charity to help save more innocent dogs' lives.
