Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Can you help me raise £1,250 in JUST TWO WEEKS for Alrowwad's Children and Young People's programmes and other organisation's in Aida Refugee Camp, Palestine?

The challenge:- I am, with the organisational help of The Amos Trust and The  Letyourself Trust, returning to Palestine's occupied territories in May to visit and work with the amazing people at Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Centre.

Reconnecting with the young people who travelled so far to live here in Aberdour while they smashed the  Edinburgh Fringe and Just Festivals last year is my priority - growing our Scottish links and relationships with these young artists who use the power of beauty and the arts to resist the oppression of occupation and to inspire and strengthen children growing up there to choose life and hope over despair, anger or reciprocal violence. (Beautiful Resistance)

In May I have the opportunity to be part of a team who will support the mounting of a first time music festival in Aida Camp. This is  being developed by Martin Joseph and his LetYourselfTrust fellows . While in the Camp I will also visit and learn from the play and community programme leaders at Wi'Am: The Palestinian Conflict Transformation Centre, which works tirelessly to support children's rights to play in the midst of occupation - among many other things that they do. Read more about Wi'Am's work here:

I am also hoping to travel to, make links with and learn from the Freedom Theatre Company in Jenna which also does great work with young people.

Amos Trust is supporting me to develop my contacts so that my time in Palestine this year can help consolidate the relationships and networks already developed and built around Alrowwad's Scottish tour last year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The young dancers and musicians of its youth theatre who lived with us here in Fife made such a huge impression on us all and we are now going to formalise our support through the creation of a new Friends of Alrowwad Fife/Scotland group.

Next year I hope a group of us from across Aberdour, Fife and Scotland will travel to Aida together to establish a commitment to a live annual or biannual programme of contact and hopefully exchange. A living, breathing, growing relationship between the people of Aberdour, Fife and Scotland with those living in Aida Refugee Camp, the size of the Silver Sands Fields surrounded by the Wall, armed watchtowers and the oppression of illegal occupation.

In return for the organisational support that will keep me safe (and not lost as is my want) while there,  that is so generously offered by Amos Trust, my outstanding fundraising target to ensure ongoing financial support for Amos's work with organisations in Palestine is £1,250.00

This outstanding amount needs to be completely raised the 22nd February - so every single penny offered towards this goal is most gratefully accepted and received...

(Please do be assured that I am covering all my own personal expenses - this is a funding target which will raise money for the benefit of Alrowwad and other AMOS supported projects.)

I would be so grateful for any offering you might consider pledging towards this goal.

I will also be taking with me messages from you to give to the young people we now know and love -  so please let me know if you would like to pass we words to deliver when I get there.

Let me know ASAP if you are interested in being part of a visit to work in Aida and Altowwad next year?

You also have the chance to sign up with me for a Tandem Sky Dive in early Autumn this year at Perth to raise funds that will go directly to Alrowwad to create new resources and opportunities for the children and young people to develop their creative skills, talents and capacities to keep on living beautiful, hopeful lives despite the challenges surrounding them on a daily basis.
