When you become a mother you become part of a very special club. A club where you know exactly what it feels like to feel unconditional love. A club where you know you would do absolutely anything for your children. They are your life.
On the 2nd February 2013, a mother just like me lost her baby girl. Matilda Mae was nine months old and went to sleep in her cot as normal, but was tragically taken in the night by the incredibly cruel condition known as SIDS. My heart broke for her Mummy Jennie, and there hasn't been a day that I haven't thought of her since.
Through blogging and my freelance work, we have supported Jennie as much as we can but I wanted to do something on a personal level to show my support for her. She is an inspirational woman who is doing everything she can help create a legacy for her beautiful baby girl.
She is tirelessly fundraising for The Lullaby Trust to help raise awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. (SIDS) Over 300 babies a year die of this unthinkably cruel condition, and often no cause is found. On a personal level, when my biggest daughter was a week old, I went to wake her up for a feed and she wouldn't wake up. She was floppy and was rushed to hospital, where no cause was found. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. On our return from hospital a couple of days later I rang this small yet valuable charity who helped talk me through what had happened and how I could best promote safe sleep practice.
I am going to run run run. Having not done exercise properly in years (ever!), I am on a mission in 2014.
So I am doing...
Hunts 10k charity race- 15th June 2014
Kimbolton Half Marathon- 17th August 2014
Perkins Great Eastern Half Marathon- 12th October 2014
And there may be more after that. Before January of this year I hadn't ever run in my life, but I am determined to do this to show even in a small way, my support for Jennie and her family and for The Lullaby Trust.
If you can spare anything at all, even a few pennies to sponsor me, that would be amazing.
Thank you.... xxx
