Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

We are a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We support them through their most serious life challenges and we campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.

Story

On Sunday 25th April 2010, I will be running taking part in the Virgin London Marathon and running 26.2 miles in aid of the Children's Society.

The Children's Society is a leading children's charity committed to making childhood better for all children in the UK.  They take action to prevent, rescue and support children facing life trapped in a vicious circle of fear and harm, a vicious circle driven by violence, neglect, poverty and discrimination.  Their network of community-based projects provide targeted, immediate and lasting help for children who feel excluded, isolated or abandoned; children who live in a vicious circle of fear and harm, and who are faced with a lifetime of danger and disadvantage in their daily lives.

Running the London Marathon is something that I would never have imagined myself doing in a million years, but now that I have found a love of running, I want to put it to good use.  I will never be a speedy runner - my aim is to cross the finishing line, however long it takes and to enjoy every second of the marathon while at the same time, raising as much money as I can to help the children who are less fortunate than we are, the children who do not have the best start in life - this charity aims to help these children and young people to overcome the obstacles that they may have faced early on and to go on to enjoy their lives.  I want to be part of this and if I can help in any way, then I will do.

If you are able to spare any amount of money at all, it doesn't matter how much or how little, then I will be very grateful and so will the children who we are helping.
