Story
My Mission
So here goes .... I am probably one of the least likely to take on a challenge that involves not washing my hair for a week; never mind hiking up to heights of 5,895m and sleeping in tents …
Yes, I’m taking on the challenge of a life time and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity, from October 4th to 14th 2018.
I know we all get a lot of emails requesting sponsorship for various events, so please do not feel obliged to donate. However, if I could just say a couple of things.
The Alder Hey hospital depends on donations to help care for over 275,000 children each year from all around the UK and world, offering specialist treatments for cancer, spinal, heart and brain conditions in its Centre of Excellence. The Alder Hey is in the process raising additional funds for its second phase research facility to enable them to work to develop safer, better medicines and therapies for children in the NHS and across the world.
We were all once children, have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews…..and being a mum myself and knowing how challenging it can be to just bring up two relatively healthy children….I can only imagine how hard it must be to see your child suffer and want to do all you can for them. Sometimes you can’t and you have to rely on the doctors and nurses in hospitals like the Alder Hey and they do such an amazing job…..that’s why I’m supporting them and climbing that BIG mountain!!!!
All the money that is donated will go straight to the charity.
I am funding the climb, registration and flights myself.
I look forwarded to breaking in those walking boots, and for anyone that wants to join me on some pre Kili training sessions up some mountains, or even long dog walks….please let me know!! ;)
