NSPCC - HACK walk, Llyn Peninsula, Wales · 12 September 2009 ·
Hi Everyone
Well on Saturday 27th June 2009, half of the Stansbie's and Paul Jackson participated in an almost never ending walk for ChildLine.
The event was called HACK: 'Hike Against Cruelty to Kids' and took place across the lovely Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. It was meant to be a 25 mile walk, but, thanks to Sergeant Steve, ended up being a very tiring 35 mile challenge... Dad you are not in charge of the map next time!
NSPCC and ChildLine have arranged five walks across the UK until the end of September to raise money for the Child's Voice Appeal. This essentially raises money for ChildLine to recruit and train the volunteer counsellors needed to answer the many calls from children. More counsellors = more calls answered. For example, it costs £1600 to recruit and train a volunteer counsellor. From first hand knowledge I understand how important it is to answer these calls and what a difference it makes.
We will be participating in another walk during September so we would be very grateful if you could spare some of your drinking money and either make a donation for the walk we have just completed, or the one that is to come.
We had a brilliant day and would definitely recommend for everyone to participate in the event next year... or if you want to get your walking boots on in September please feel free to join us.
Thank you. Katrina xxx
