Just to give you a bit of background - It all
started out as a New Year's Resolution to do something really challenging for
charity (It sounded like a great idea at the time!) Well I only got round to
buying the bike a couple of days ago with only 24 days till the trip. A couple
of days later I decided to go for my first training session - a typical day's
journey of 130km! Lets just I was unable to move for 2 days! Despite being a
bit of a gym bunny I realised how much of a challenge it was going to be. So I
am busy training in every spare moment!
Here is a summary of my trip:
Day 1: Setting off from St Pauls at 9.15am on the
30th April we cycle to Canterbury (meant to be the hilliest part of the
journey)
Day 2: Canterbury to Dover - travel over on the
ferry to Boulogne and continue to Montriel (no rest for the wicked on the ferry
we have to continue late into the evening to get to our destination)
Day 3: Montriel to Amiens
Day 4: Amiens to L'Isle
Day 5: L'Isle to Paris - Hurray!
I am raising money for my usual charity
Crossroads Caring for Carers who provide support and rest bite care to carers
around the UK. Carers are such a forgotten section of society, people who
dedicate so much of their life to care for a relative, partner or friend
creating huge stresses on them emotionally, physically and often financially.
Crossroads offer them support and advice when they need it most - even to help
them take a break and have an afternoon to themselves.
So please dig deep for this great cause and relish
in this punishment I have inflicted on myself.
Thank you!
Katrina xx
Ps. I do
plan to cycle to Paris in style so watch out for the pics on facebook!
