English Channel Swim · 28 August 2017
In August this year, Team Jellyfish will to be following in the wake of the greatest channel swimmers in history. I am privileged to be one of this team of 6 who will be attempting to successfully swim as a relay team across the busiest shipping lane in the world – The English Channel.
For those of you who know me well being in water has always been my happy place and I have always been up for a challenge but the prospect of swimming in the somewhat chilly open water (NO wetsuits allowed) quite possibly in the dark with some real jellyfish for company seems pretty daunting at the moment. I have several months of cold water training, night swimming, getting comforatble in the open water, 3 training weekends in Dover, a 2-hour qualifying swim and no doubt many many miles in the pool ahead of me. Mentally and physically for me this is going to be a tough challenge but knowing that I am doing this for an amazing spinal cord injury charity, Aspire makes it a little easier.
Aspire is a life line for many people who have been unfortunate enough to have this life changing injury offering them practical support so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives. Visit their website if you want to see more of the inspirational work they do- www.aspire.org.uk.
Please help me to raise as much for them as possible so they can continue with their invaluable work.
Thanks for your support!
